Join us for Laura’s Village October Workshop - Oct 19, Oct 21-23 - as we come together to make a difference in the lives of children through Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child!
Our participants will have the opportunity to pack shoebox gifts, create special artwork, and work alongside volunteers and caregivers to spread joy and kindness to children around the world. 🌎🎁
Throughout the week, participants will enjoy:

💡 Opportunities to practice decision-making, budgeting & organization
It’s a week filled with friendship, faith, learning, service, and fun—all while reminding our participants that their unique abilities can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. 💙

For this art experience, Prof. Tyler Starr and Davidson students will introduce painting and printmaking techniques. No art experience is expected or required, and hand-over-hand assistance (if needed) will be provided by art students and the Buddy Club. All art materials will be provided.
Prof. Starr will print participants’ photos in a format that will be used to create drawings and paintings using various tracing and offsetting methods. These techniques provide a level of guaranteed success—and many surprises—for all participants, including those with no studio art experience. Most importantly, this process offers the opportunity to experience the joy of making art together with the Davidson College Buddy Club.
NOTE: Parents are not required to stay for this event, but are more than welcome if preferred.
LOCATION: Davidson College Visual Arts Center (VAC), 315 N Main St., Davidson
DATE: Saturday, Oct. 24th (during an extended Buddy Club)
TIME: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
COST: FREE
PARKING: Parking is available in the lot behind the VAC, on Jackson St.
ENTRANCE: Participants may enter through the front door on N Main St. However, if you need mobility assistance, you may enter through the large door at the loading dock alongside the parking lot on Jackson St. There will be a student or staff there to help you navigate the entrance and hallway to the art room.
SEND PHOTOS: For this project, participants need to send photos of things they love, ie. person, flower, car, animal, toy, etc. Email these photos to laurasvillageinfo@gmail.com by October 21st. Photos will then be forwarded to Prof. Starr to print.
